Lunch for week of March 3, 2008

The New England Association for Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is a voluntary peer accreditation association.  Members are peers from other member schools throughout New England.  The committee of five will be here to evaluate our school on March 9, 10, 11, & 12 by observing classrooms and speaking to staff & faculty, students, and parents.  The accreditation process begins on Sunday afternoon and ends by noon on Wednesday.  The team is here to validate the self study report of sixteen standards that we have written over the past two years with input from all the staff and school board members.  They measure the school against its mission statement and the standards for accreditation.  They highlight the strengths and weaknesses of a school and assist it in preparing for improvement through commendations and recommendations.  It is important to remember the two purposes of accreditation – school improvement and quality assurance.

Thank you to all the families who are volunteering time, donating food items, and helping with the welcome dinner for the visit.  You all contribute in defining who we are as a school!

Registration – The registration fee is $175 for the 2008-2009 school year.  An open house is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2008.

Calcutta/Silent Auction A letter with a ticket was mailed to all our families.  The expectation is that each family purchase or sells a ticket for $100.  We need everyone’s participation to make this a successful fundraiser.   We also have auction donations that need to be picked up.  Volunteer hours can be used by helping!   Each class will be collecting items for a class basket.  Information is going home today with this newsletter.  This year’s theme baskets are:  K/1 Life’s a Beach, 2/3 Death by Chocolate, 4/5 Spring Cleaning, 6/7 Cooking & Baking, 8 Gardening.  Donations can be sent in right after vacation.

Dates to Remember

God, You know Your plan for each of us.  When faced with difficulties, let our students seek You out and ask for Your guidance.  Let them realize that no problem is too large or too great for You to solve.

Have a wonderful vacation week!
